We had a terrific Thanksgiving in Southern California with Rob's mom feeding us like there was no tomorrow (thanks Marianne!)! We were thrilled to be able to visit with Rob's brother (Jim's) entire family (thanks for the wonderful baby gifts girls!), Rob's sister Cris and her boyfriend Garr as well as Rob's Aunt Maria and her husband John. Happy birthday was also celebrated for both Maria (on Thankgiving Day) and Cris (the day after)! It was JUST perfect - great food and THE best company anyone could ask for!
On Friday (yes Black Friday - but you have to understand the limited shopping here in Havasu), we went to Babies R Us and changed our minds on some of the baby gear we need for Baby Robinson (until now we had only seen some of the items in a picture on the internet). 1 of the major changes was that we changed the crib bedding set. We're still sticking with the jungle theme, but discovered that the internet picture of our original choice was possibly "enhanced" versus the actual quality of the set itself. Here's a picture of the look of our new nursery. We just love it and are glad we made the change. The colors should match our new house that will have a lot of "earth" tone colors. Thanks to Rob's mom for giving us the set as a gift that day!! WE LOVE IT!!
We also were able to purchase our crib furniture set while in Southern California and were thrilled to find a very inexpensive set that we liked at IKEA (a fantastic Swedish based store in CA - if you've never been to one and you have the opportunity - go . . .they're a blast to just look around in!)! This won't be one of those sets that will last the baby until the teen years, but the bed does convert into a small toddler bed (but not full size), so it could possibly last until he's 4 or 5 or we could easily just pass the crib down to his brother/sister if the Lord chooses to bless us with another child some day soon! We thought it was a terrific compromise and we're thrilled to have found it!
We will be transporting the furniture back to Arizona over the next couple of weeks and will hopefully have the nursery set-up by the end of the year or first part of January. So, we'll post a picture of the finished product at that point for those interested. We won't be able to paint until we get to our new house in the later part of 2008 which is a bummer, but it'll be nice for Baby R's arrival!!
So - all in all a terrific trip! We endulged in terrific food and even better company as well as were able to mark a couple things off our Baby R "To Do" list!! What more could we have asked for!???!?
